Starting in October, the Ninilchik Community Library will be taking part in InkTober, a month-long drawing event.
Starting Oct. 1, a list of 31 daily prompts will be posted. The goal is to use just an ink pen to draw your interpretation of each day's prompt. Light sketching first is recommended, and you can draw the prompts daily, every other day, weekly, or whatever amount fits your schedule. Drawings can be literal or metaphorical, a single subject or a complex scene. The goal is just to be as creative as possible.
Participants can meet at the library once a week thru Oct, on Monday's from 5-6 p.m., to draw during that time, share and discuss their drawings from the past week with others, and utilize the library's collection of books on art, drawing, and others related to the daily prompts. The first meeting will be on Oct. 5.
Paper and ink pens will be provided. Open to ages 10 thru adults.
Inktober is a world-wide event, and participants can share their work daily, and see other artist's interpretations of the prompts at the end of each day, by visiting Inktober's social media sites. If posting your own, just be sure to use the hashtags #inktober or #inktober2026.
